Jeanne Jasper 1923-2017

Murphys, CA...Jeanne Jasper passed away peacefully at her home in San Andreas, Monday January 2nd, 2017. She was 93. Eugenia Mary Reed was born in Castella, California on December 20,1923.



She spent her early childhood in Rail Road Flat until her mother married Howard Joses and they moved to Mountain Ranch. She graduated from Calaveras High School and married her husband of 70 years, Milton Jasper. They lived in Murphys where they raised six plus children.

She was active in her community serving as a Sunday school teacher at the First Congregational Church in Murphys, a long standing member and officer of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and for awhile worked at the Bret Harte Rehabilitation Center. She always put everyone ahead of herself and always had a houseful of kids.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband, Milton E. Jasper, and is survived by her family: Allyn and Jane Jasper or Sherburne, NY; Randy and Renee Jasper of San Andreas, CA; Herb and Bryanna Jasper of New Pine Creek, CA; Carol and Dan Silveria of Lake City, CA; Sheri and Clifford Overmier of San Andreas,CA; Lori Jasper of Sunnyvale, CA; Don and Diane Hewlett of Douglas Flat, CA; her brothers and sisters: Tom and Betty Reed of Emmett, ID; Doug and Loree Joses of Mountain Ranch, CA; Elliot and Cheryl Joses of Mountain Ranch; and Gary and Marlene Joses of Mountain Ranch. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and lots of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Sue Alkema for her long term loving care, Kate Scott and hospice for their special caring and support.

Services will be graveside at Peoples Cemetery for immediate family. Memorial contributions can be made to Amador-Calaveras Hospice, PO Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642 or Native Daughters of the Golden West, Ruby Parlor 46, PO box 1874, Murphys, CA, 95247.
