Medical Center Earns 2016 California Awards For Performance Excellence

Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center is a bronze award winner for the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) from the California Council for Excellence (CCE). CCE awarded the 2016 CAPE Eureka Awards to five organizations for their outstanding innovation, continuous improvement and visionary leadership.

Two of the five winning organizations are Adventist Health facilities: Sonora Regional Medical Center and Adventist Health Central Valley Network. The 2016 Eureka Award recipients are:
Gold Level: Stellar Solutions, Inc., Palo Alto, Calif. (small business)

Silver Level: Adventist Health Central Valley Network, Hanford, Calif. (health care)
AltaMed Health Services, Los Angeles, Calif. (health care)

Bronze: Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation: Golden Gate, San Francisco, Calif.
Sonora Regional Medical Center, Sonora, Calif. (health care)

“We strive for excellence each day in everything we do and are proud to have been selected among this elite group of organizations,” says Andrew Jahn, CEO and President of Sonora Regional Medical Center. “Congratulations to the entire team for your hard work and dedication to improving health care for our community.”

The CAPE Eureka Award process is modeled after that of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which raises awareness about the importance of performance excellence in driving the U.S. and global economy; provides organizational assessments, training, tools and criteria; educates leaders in business, schools, health care organizations, and government and nonprofit organizations; shares best practices of national role models; and recognizes those role models with the Baldrige Award.

The Eureka applicants are evaluated through a rigorous three-month process, including a weeklong site visit, and covers the applicants’ performance in seven areas defined by the Baldrige Framework. The Eureka application evaluation is overseen by the CAPE Board of Judges to ensure the integrity of the process and to recommend recognition levels to CCE’s Board of Directors for ratification.
