Tribal Security Helps Sheriff's Department Recover Stolen Vehicle

Tuolumne, CA...On Tuesday evening just before 6 PM, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Sonora Police Department regarding a reported stolen vehicle that occurred on Mono Way in Sonora.

Around 9:30 PM, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by Tuolumne Rancheria Tribal Security, that they had seen the tan 2000 Volvo in the area of Mi Wu St. in Tuolumne. Deputies responded and found the vehicle to be occupied by 35 year old Anthony Rix. The Deputies ordered Rix to step out of the vehicle and follow their instructions. Rix threw the keys into the grass and continued walking across the street towards a bystander, refusing to follow the Deputies instructions. The bystander urged Rix to comply with law enforcement and he eventually complied. A records check of Rix confirmed an active warrant issued for failing to appear and violating his probation regarding his DUI case. Rix speech was severely slurred and a strong odor of alcohol emanated from him. Rix was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and his outstanding warrant. The stolen vehicle was later returned to its rightful owner.

We would like to thank the Tuolumne Rancheria Tribal Security for their partnership and assisting us in being able to capture the suspect and return the vehicle to its owner.
