Just after 4:30 am, Sonora Police Officers were called to Walmart for a suspicious male who attempted to conceal store merchandise and then refused to leave after being contacted by store personnel. Upon the officer’s arrival, the described male, later determined to be Edward Jones, was seen leaving the parking lot as a passenger in a white 2001 Ford Explorer. After leaving the area, the Ford Explorer pulled into the Lowe’s parking lot to avoid detection. Jones and the driver quickly exited the vehicle and attempted to hide behind some outdoor store merchandise just as officers arrived and detained them.

Edward Jones was determined to be on active CDC Parole for felony reckless evasion. Officers also determined Jones was under the influence of illegal drugs and in possession of tools specifically designed to commit crimes of larceny. Jones was taken into custody and remains in jail on a parole hold.
