Vehicular Fisticuffs Lead To Assault With A Deadly Weapon Charges For Angels Camp Man
Sonora, CA...8 June 2016, at approx. 9:42 pm, Officers responded to the 100 block of Hospital Road for a reported vehicle accident, as well as a verbal dispute. When Officers arrived they made contact with several subjects. During the Officer’s investigation into the matter, it was determined Christopher Metcalf, 25 of Sonora, was westbound on Mono Way in a 1997 Green Nissan pick-up, when he ran a red traffic light at the intersection of Mono Way and Greenley Road, and struck a 2007 Honda Accord being driven by a 34 year old Angels Camp man.
Metcalf then fled the scene of the accident in his vehicle. The 34 year old Angels Camp man gave chase in his vehicle and started ramming Metcalf’s vehicle from behind. Metcalf turned and traveled the wrong way down Hospital Road and was followed him. 34 year old Angels Camp man finally caused Metcalf’s vehicle to spin out and strike a parked vehicle. He then rammed the driver’s side of Metcalf’s vehicle pinning it against a brick wall.
Both drivers exited their vehicles and became involved in a verbal confrontation, until witness’s intervened. Both drivers were uninjured, and both their vehicles sustained moderate to major damage, mostly as the result of the ramming incident following the collision. The parked vehicle sustained moderate damage as well.
Both drivers were arrested and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail. Metcalf was booked for misdemeanor driving under the influence, misdemeanor hit and run, plus misdemeanor driving on a suspended drivers’ license. The 34 year old Angels Camp man was booked for felony assault with a deadly weapon.
