Angels Prepares For Annual Open House and Christmas Parade

Angels Camp – Nov. 4, 2015 –The Angels Camp Business Association presents the grand kick-off to local holiday celebrations Saturday, Nov. 28 with the fourth annual Christmas of Angels Open House and Wine Stroll from 4 to 8 p.m. and the 25th annual Holiday Parade beginning at 5 p.m. in historic downtown Angels Camp, rain or shine. This year’s theme, “Paint the Town Red,” honors fire personnel who successfully fought the Butte Fire in Calaveras and Amador counties this past September.

Merchants will be offering a number of special discounts during the Open House and Wine Stroll starting at 4 p.m., as well as festive treats and sidewalk sale paired perfectly with locally-crafted wines. The holiday ambiance is enhanced with caroling and performances by Grover Anderson. Caroling begins at 4:15 in front of the Visitor’s Center and the City Christmas Tree will be lighted there at 4:30 p.m.

The Holiday Parade commences at 5 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 820 S. Main St., showcasing a wide range of entries including Santa on a fire truck – honoring firefighters who “kicked Butte,” vintage cars, floats, Jr. Miss Calaveras, music, horses and marchers. After the parade Santa will hear children’s wishes in the Utica Hotel lobby with photo opportunities.

Laurie Giannini, Calaveras County Fairgrounds and 39th Agricultural District CEO, has been chosen as the Grand Marshal of the parade recognizing her devotion to the fairgrounds and helping to save the Calaveras County Fair from near bankruptcy when the State of California pulled funding a few years ago. “We honor Laurie for all of her dedication and enthusiasm to the fairgrounds, and especially celebrate and honor her tireless determination to turn the Fairgrounds into the fire command post for fighting the Butte Fire,” shared Candy Myers, ACBA President.
Awards for parade entries will be presented in the following categories: floats, vintage vehicles, horse groups, schools, musical groups, schools, businesses and individuals. Entry fee is $10 and forms are available at christmasofangels.com or by calling the ACBA office, 736-1333. Additional contributions will help ensure that the Christmas of Angels continues without City funding.
“The Christmas of Angels Open House, Wine Stroll and Parade will take a special ‘red’ hue this year as we pay tribute to the thousands of firefighters, emergency responders and staff who bravely and tirelessly brought an end to this devastating fire,’” added Myers. “We are inviting several of them back to join in the parade. Wear your red clothing and join us for a celebration of the Holidays and the heroic efforts of firefighting personnel.”

For more information, visit online at christmasofangels.com or call the ACBA office at 736-1333.
