Ovations Performing Arts Series 2015 Comes to a Close in a Classy Way on April 19, 2015

Angels Camp, CA...Pacific Guitar Ensemble, the six person classical guitar “pluckers” from San Francisco is set to close the Calaveras Arts Council’s Ovation Performing Arts Series on April 19 at the Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp. Doors open at 2:00pm and music starts at 3:00pm...

Pacific Guitar Ensemble was founded in 2010 by classical guitarist David Tanenbaum and steel string guitarist Peppino D’Agostino. PGE is made up of faculty members and graduates of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. These classically trained musicians bring together a wide array of guitars and plucked instruments: nylon strings, steel, electric basses, the Middle Eastern lute, the oud, and 17th century theorbos. Their repertoire ranges from arrangements of Bach, Brahms, Dowland and Rossini to original music by Sergio Assad, minimalist Belinda Reynolds, and D’Agostino.

PGE will be performing Concerto in D Major, RV 93 for lute by Antonio Vivaldi, Sexter Op. 18, No 2 by Johnannes Brahms, Tango Bleu by Francois Laurent, Siete Voi by Gioacchino Rossini, Fanasia para un Gentilhombre by Joanquin Rodrigo, Mediterranean Spark by PGE’s own, Peppino D’Agostino, Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, BWV 1051 by J.S. Bach, and closing the concert with Verano Porteno by Argentine tango composer, Ástor Pantaleón Piazzolla.

Adult tickets are $25 each and Youth 18 years and younger are $10 each. Order your tickets by going on-line to www.calaverasarts.org or by calling (209) 754-1774.

Pacific Guitar Ensemble closes the Ovations Performing Arts Series for 2015. The next music series is Music in the Parks. MIP occurs every Wednesday evening from June 17 through August 19, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
