In Loving Memory of William Donald "Don" White, 1925~2015
Angels Camp, CA...William Donald ( Don) White passed away January 22, 2015 in Angels Camp, he was 89 years old. Don, as he was known to his family and friends was a long-time resident of Angels Camp. He was born on August 15, 1925 in Alameda, California. He attended and graduated from Alameda High School in 1942 where he was on the Dean’s List, a member of the R.O.T.C. and performed in the high school acting theater. Following high school , Don joined the United States Army Air Corp and became a bombardier assigned to various heavy bombers during World War II. His livelihoods included employment with the National Park Service, California Beaches and Parks, San Mateo County Parks, house painter and a building contractor where he retired eventually after years of building homes and structures for businesses in Calaveras County and surrounding areas. He was active in the Angels / Murphys Lions Club and the Black Bart Players of Murphys where donated countless hours to these organizations. He was also active with the Angels Gun Club, Angels Fire Dept. and Toastmasters.
He enjoyed Archery, Fishing , Hunting and Golf, along with amazing his friends and family with various stories or questions in trivia pursuit of less-known subjects as well as well- known subjects.
Don White is survived by his brother, Kenneth White of North Carolina, sister , Evelyn Arvielo of Rancho Mirage, CA. Son Jeff White ( Beth White) of Douglas Flat, son Greg White of Angels Camp ,daughter Claudia Raffetto of Auburn, CA., granddaughters, Julie Ballard ( Jason ) of Douglas Flat, Sarah Desilva (James) of Waimanalo, Hawaii, Darla Rehling ( Joe) of Copperopolis, and Lisa Raffetto of Roseville, CA. Great –granddaughters, are Janae Ballard, Hailey Rehling, Ashlynne Rehling, Bo Desilva, and Jaya Desilva.
