Wells Fargo Donates $5,000 for Youth Mentoring in Calaveras County!

Murphys, CA...Calaveras Mentoring Foundation was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from Wells Fargo. The grant will be used to support the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, which connects local youth with safe, positive mentors who offer friendship, opportunity, and support for making healthy life decisions. “We are sincerely honored by the continued support of our local Wells Fargo,” said Calaveras Mentoring Foundation President Tom Suarez. “The strength of our community is the reason the Mentoring Program is so successful.” ...

“Children are our future and investing in programs that support their positive development – like the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program – is just one way Wells Fargo gives back to our community,” said Michelle Bollinger, manager of Wells Fargo’s San Andreas store. “We share the Mentoring Program’s belief in the importance of relationships and support a program that connects caring, positive role models to local youth.”

Currently, there are 21 volunteer adult mentors paired with local youth ranging from first to twelfth grade, and a waiting list of approximately 12 youth seeking mentors. Adult mentors undergo intensive screening and training; once complete, mentors spend a minimum of two hours a week, for at least one year, with their mentee. Adults interested in becoming mentors are encouraged to call 209-736-6078 or visit www.calaverasmentoring.org.

Grant dollars will be used for mentor recruiting, screening, training, advice and support, which are all vital to ensuring the safety and success of students in the program.
