Ebbetts Pass Youth Teams Make it to State Finals
For the first time in recent memory, the Ebbetts Pass Youth Soccer League (EPYSL) is advancing two teams to the 2014 Cal North Jr. Cup State Finals. The under 10 boys team, coached by Jeff Gouveia and Chad Wible, secured their semi final victory following an exciting penalty shootout (3-2) to settle a tie in Morgan Hill on November 23 and advance to the finals. At the very same time, across the state at the Cherry Island .....
Soccer Complex in West Sacramento, the under 10 girls team, coached by Benjie Pryor and Shara Kirk, who travels by the team name of the “Orange Crush,” clinched their finalist spot winning 3 of their 4 games during the preliminary and semi final rounds.
Both teams were to set to play tomorrow, December 6 at Cherry Island but the significant rain received this past week has left the fields unplayable. Both teams are now tentatively scheduled to play next weekend, December 13 !
The Ebbetts Pass Youth Soccer League administers youth soccer programming on a seasonal basis - Fall - Winter - Spring - Summer - for local children 4 - 19 years of age from Bear Valley, Arnold, Murphys, Angels Camp and Copperopolis. As a part of the Cal North, the California Youth Soccer Association - North (CYSA-N), including the Cal Soccer League (CCSL) as well as a member of Cal North District VIII, EPYSL provides recreational and competitive playing opportunities both within District VIII and across Northern California. EPSYL has also partnered with the Calaveras Youth Soccer League (CYSA) and the Linden Youth Soccer Association (LYSA) in an interleague playing agreement to expand the level of play for our Fall recreational program. EPYSL also remains committed to long term coach and player development and is proud to have partnered with the British Challenger League Training Program, the Bear Valley Soccer Camp, US Club, the Cal North Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Positive Coaching Alliance to promote the advancement of skills and training of our coaches and players.
