Wind Horse Consort concert in Valley Springs on December 12th
Valley Springs, CA...Wind Horse Consort will perform Christmas music at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 on stage in the 145 Club, 28 California St., Valley Springs. The 5-member consort of recorder players is offering the free performance to spread holiday cheer. Wind Horse Consort originated more than a decade ago when Janet Venerella and her sister Jean Lebbert began playing regularly with Dana and Ruth Nichols. The consort has recently been energized by the addition of a new member: the ....
well-known musician, arranger and music instructor Robert Wise of Valley Springs. The group is named after the Tibetan wind horse, or prayer flags. The Tibetan Buddhist concept is that as wind tatters the flags, their prayers of blessing will blow forth into the world. The flags carry the image of a stylized horse flying in the sky. The members of Wind Horse Consort hope their woodwind music is a blessing to those who hear it.
Consort is a term used to refer to small chamber music groups whose members all play the same type of instruments, in this case various sizes of recorders. Occasionally, however, Wind Horse becomes a broken consort because one of our members plays a harp, piano, guitar or other instrument.
