Sign Up Now For The Murphys Area Community Tennis Association's Mixed Doubles Tournament

Murphys, CA...Tennis players from throughout the Motherlode are invited to sign up for the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) Mixed Doubles Tournament to be held Saturday, October 18 at Bret Harte High School, in Angels Camp, and MACTA’s Wintercreek Facility located behind the historic schoolhouse on Jones St. in Murphys. Registration deadline is October 10, but those interested in taking part are encouraged to register as soon as possible....

The tournament is open to players of all ages and abilities. Tennis enthusiasts can register by contacting the tournament director, Jim Triolo, by phone, 795-3183, or by email, mario22@prodigy.net. There will be two flights determined by the skill of the registered participants.

Players will register as individuals and will be paired with a partner based on ability. They will be notified by email where to report to begin play.

A round-robin tournament, preliminary matches will be played at both locations. Check-in is at 8 a.m. The finals will take place around 1:30 p.m. at the Murphys courts. Tournament rules will be those of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up in each flight.

The entry fee is $20 per player, plus a can of balls. The event is a fundraiser to help MACTA maintain the Wintercreek Facility, to sponsor youth and adult clinics, and to continue to promote tennis in Murphys and the surrounding communities.

During lunchtime, MACTA will have food and beverages for purchase in Murphys.

A meal consisting of chicken-in-the barrel, salad, bread and desert will be available for those not participating in the tournament for $15 per person, $25 for a couple. For participants, the cost is $10. Beer, wine, and water will also be for sale.

MACTA was formed in the autumn of 2010 to channel the interests and efforts of the many tennis players in the greater Murphys area. It was incorporated as a California Public Benefit Corporation and received its 501(c) 3 non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service on March 8, 2011. It is a community tennis association affiliated with the United States Tennis Association (USTA). It has a Joint Use Agreement with the Ebbetts Pass Veteran’s Memorial District that has jurisdiction over the courts and their surroundings.

MACTA is designed to welcome tennis players of all ages and all skill levels. Anyone wishing to join can do so by making an annual donation of at least $25. Contributions can be sent to PO Box 344, Murphys CA 95247.
