Joyce Ellen Hacker October 8, 1958 – July 30, 2014

Murphys, CA...The world is a sadder place with the loss of Joyce Hacker. She died July 30 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce was born in Walnut Creek on October 8, 1958. At 19 she moved to Murphys to be closer to skiing and the greater outdoors. She married John Hacker in 1984 and together they raised their two children Wesley and Kaitlyn. She devoted herself to numerous causes and became a beloved fixture in the community. If you knew Joyce, you knew how much she liked to have fun. Whether it was the Rolling Stones, Fabulous Off Brothers or virtually anything live, she was an avid music lover who loved to dance. A spirited fighter, Joyce never gave up. She remained positive, gracious and concerned about the well-being of others until the end...

Joyce had many passions. She loved baseball, her pets, lunching with friends and being active. Her greatest passion in life was her children. An avid kid at heart, Joyce always joined in with Wesley and Kaitlyn. Whether it was sports, rock concerts, kayaking or traveling, she instilled an overall sense of adventure in her children and was always the cool mom.

Joyce will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was bright, beautiful, energetic, loving, caring, spirited and most of all courageous. Her overall zest for life should serve as a reminder that nothing in life is guaranteed, and to live every day to the fullest. She is survived by her husband, John, her children Wesley and Kaitlyn, her brother Alan and sisters, Marcia and Joan. She was blessed with many cousins, nieces and nephews and a huge group of extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Joyce Hacker will be held at Brice Station Winery on Saturday, September 27th from 4:00-8:00 pm. Attendees are asked to bring stories and photos of Joyce, as well as a potluck dish to share.
