Roger Joel Test, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Bear Valley on July 20, 2014. Roger was born June 25, 1946, in Stockton, Ca., the youngest son of Lloyd and Verna Test. Roger grew up in Stockton, graduating from Stagg High School. He graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelors Degree, then a Masters Degree in Business from California State University at Fresno. He went on to achieve a Degree in International Studies from Thunderbird Institute in Arizona. Roger traveled through Europe for a year before obtaining a Diploma Di Ski from the University of Grenoble in France. He was a pioneer of the french style of skiing in California, having studied with Georges Joubert, of French Olympic skiing fame...

Upon Roger’s return home he worked for a time as a construction inspector during construction of the Pine Mountain Lake Resort in Groveland. Following that, he became a PSIA Certified ski instructor at Mount Reba at Bear Valley during the winter months and a building contractor in the summers. He built his own log home in Bear Valley, and had a part in building many others. Roger served his community in numerous other capacities, including homeowner's association and water district officer.

Roger’s greatest joy was teaching disabled people to ski. For many years he was a charismatic ski racer and instructor. His extended family was to be found on the slopes of Mt. Reba.

Roger is survived by his mother, Verna Test-Parsons, his eldest brother Allen and wife Barbara, nieces Jennifer Test Hartvickson and Laura Test Mozolewski and his other brother Larry and wife Holly, nieces Heather Test Pinasco, Kelly Test Hunsucker, and nephew Adam Test.

Roger leaves behind many friends in Bear Valley. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His greatest joys were skiing fresh powder, playing his Steinway piano, and nurturing his daffodils and a brood of hummingbirds. He was a loyal supporter of the Bear Valley Music Festival and will be missed by his circle of musician friends.

A public memorial will he held in Bear Valley after conclusion of the Music Festival. The date and location to be determined. Memorial contributions in Roger's honor may be made to Disabled Sports, USA-Far West, P. O. Box 8339, Truckee, CA

Interment will be private. A family memorial will be held at a future date.
