What’s Happening in Murphys this Week July 16 through July 23

Murphys, CA...Summer Special: Cottage Stay and Canoe Rental - Book any new Midweek 2 night or longer stay at one of the Murphys Vacation Rentals, and receive a $50 Sierra Nevada Adventure Company certificate to be used toward a kayak, stand up paddleboard, or canoe rental. July Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - The paintings of Jeanne Townsend are back by popular demand for the month of July at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys.

Mondays at Roquefort - We invite you to join us in the garden for our Chefs Market. We will be pouring tasty wines, creative brews, and hosting local Chef's to showcase their latest organic creations. Come on down to sit, sip, and listen to Owen and Kiel as they take you away to a blissful paradise. Gates open at 5 pm. FREE admission. Some vendors may accept credit cards, but it is not guaranteed. Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food & Wine Tours - Join Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 2:30 pm. Each tour is approximately three and a half hours. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday night, the Zucca garden is your place. We always welcome your picnic items or takeout from area restaurants should you want to make a night of it.

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.

July 18, 2014, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at the gallery located at 466-B Main Street, Murphys. All are invited to attend and enjoy the wine and appetizers.

July 19, 2014 - Murphys Homecoming Celebration & Duck Races - Murphys Community Club presents their annual Homecoming Celebration and Duck Races in the Murphys Community Park. The Calaveras Community Band will kick off the festivities with a concert starting at 11:30 a.m. Other activities will include the Old Timers Luncheon for local residents who are at least 70 years of age and have lived in the area for ten years or more. There will also be the greatly anticipated duck races that benefit the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Foundation. The Murphys Community Club will be selling hot dogs, potato salad, ice cream bars, wine and other beverages. There is no admission charge. July 20, 2014 - Native Sons of the Golden West Monthly Breakfast - Chispa Parlor #139 of the Native Sons of the Golden West will serve an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast at the Native Sons Hall from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate will be served. The breakfast is served on the third Sunday of each month.
