Fire Update...Smoke In The TCU Mostly From Monticello Fire
San Andreas, CA...Our local CAL-FIRE TCU's Lisa Williams wanted us to let you know that the bulk of the smoke in our area is from the Monticello Fire that has now burned 7,000 acres in the Sonoma - Lake - Napa Unit around Lake Berryessa. They have had a large amount of inbound traffic regarding our smoky skies. The bad news is from a fire...the good news it is not in our area. But let's all be prepared as we are just an ignition away from one here...

Conditions: The fire is burning in grassy oak woodland transitioning to heavy brush, in higher elevations. The 7000 acre estimate could change due to better mapping. There is a potential for extreme growth. Firefighters will be challenged working in steep rugged terrain, with difficult access in the remote mountain range of Yolo County. Firefighters will be deploying aggressive air and ground strategies. Firefighters are focusing on building control lines around the Golden Bear Estates residential area. Heavy smoke is visible throughout the valley.
With the current weather conditions and elevated fire danger, individuals enjoying the holiday weekend are asked to use extreme caution, “one less spark- one less wildfire”. For more information on how to prepare for wildfires, go to ReadyForWildfire.org
