A bit more about the Muster Association
Since the beginning of formal firefighting efforts in the United States, firefighters have periodically gathered to exhibit their equipment and to demonstrate their courage and abilities. Their purpose was to show the public and other firefighters the fine quality of their apparatus and the fortitude of the firefighters themselves.
This two hundred year old tradition lives on! Every year, firefighters from across the State of California meet for this type of competition and refer to the event as a “Muster”. The teams utilize antique apparatus and methods to race against the clock that provides for an exciting and sometimes hilarious competition. The muster has a variety of events that include competition in Bucket Brigades, Hand Pumpers, Hose Carts, Vintage Fire Trucks and Steam Pumping demonstrations.
Musters are a unique and exciting opportunity for the public, the firefighters and their families to join together for some friendly competition, cold refreshments and family interaction.
If this sounds like something that you may enjoy and want to be part of then join the California Firemen’s Muster Association and help promote our motto “Fellowship through Competition”.
