The 19th Annual Mother Lode Daffodil Show At Ironstone This Weekend

Murphys, CA...The 2014 Northern California Daffodil Society Spring Daffodil Shows are this weekend at Ironstone that is Daffodil Show in and unto it'self. The 19th Annual Mother Lode Show is March 15th from 11am to 5pm and the 16th from 10am to 3pm...

Mother Lode Daffodil Show

ENTERING THE MOTHER LODE DAFFODIL SHOW

IRONSTONE VINEYARDS

MARCH 15-16, 2014

Entries can be either daffodil blooms or daffodil photographs.

Blooms

1. Bring cut flowers or daffodils growing in pots to the Showroom (one floor directly below the Jewelry Shoppe) on Friday, March 14 between 2pm and 9pm or on Saturday morning, March 15 before 9am.

2. NCDS members will be there to help you put your blooms into the show. There will be places for entries for one stem or three stems of the same variety, so bring as many flowers as you can!

3. When you cut your flowers, leave the stems as long as you can. Use a water mister (sprayer) to gently wash any dirt/mud off the blooms.

4. Cut your blooms when they are fully open, before the wind and slugs can ruin them. Put them into a jar of water and then into the fridge. They will keep for over a week if you keep a water-soaked wash-cloth in the fridge to keep the humidity high. The show will provide tubes and stands for your entries.

5. If you know the names of your daffodils – good! If you have a list of the names of the daffodils you bought or grow, bring it. In any case, NCDS members will help identify your daffodils.

6. There are special classes for local growers – so foothills growers, give your region good representation!

7. You may gather your ribbons won, along with your entries, at the close of the show on Sunday at 3pm.

Photographs

1. All kinds of photos are welcome – color or monochrome - the only requirement is that at least one daffodil must appear. Bring photos to the Showroom on Friday, March 14 between 2pm and 9pm. Should this timing for delivery not be possible, you may leave your photos with Kerry Keeney at Ironstone any day up to March 14. Or you may mail them to:

Kerry Keeney, Ironstone Vineyards

1894 Six Mile Road

Murphys, CA 95247

2. Photos must be the work of the exhibitor (you may bring others' work and give them the photo credits on the entry tags).

3. Photos must be between 5×7 inches and 14×17 inches. It's suggested that photos be mounted on lightweight, stiff card stock. No matting should extend beyond the photo with no glass or frame.

4. The show will provide an entry card for each of the photos and NCDS members will help you complete them.

5. Should you want your photos after the show, you may pick them up (along with ribbons won) on Sunday at the close of the show at 3pm – or make other arrangements for their return.
