Signing Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution ~By Al Segalla

Copperopolis, CA..Today, September 17, is the 226th Anniversary of the historical signing of the U.S. Constitution. I think, if we would but follow the constitution, most of our problems would disappear and our children could look forward to living in a free and prosperous county. Here is what the father of our country had to say about this document: "I consider myself honored to have presided over the Constitutional Convention that conceived of this document. It took several months and was the subject of much debate until, I believe, with the help of the Almighty, it came together in its final form. I venture to say that this document described a unique form of government unlike any other heretofore experienced, respecting the freedom and rights of the individual....

The design on the back of the chair from which I presided had shown a half sun which was not clear as to whether it was a rising or setting sun. During the many hours of debate it might have been seen by some as a setting sun. However, when my colleague, Dr. Benjamin Franklin, signed the document with tears in his eyes, he commented to those nearby "...Now, at length, I have the happiness to know that it is a rising, not a setting sun." Leaving Independence Hall, it was reported that a woman spectator asked Dr. Franklin whether the country now had a republic or a monarchy? To which he replied," a republic if you can keep it."

Please celebrate this anniversary and keep vigilance over this document which was set up to protect and defend your God-given freedoms. Keep your Republic. Fly your flags proudly.

General George Washington"

There may be hope yet. Nine states have endorsed the "Liberty Amendment", which would require the federal government to exit all activity not authorized by the Constitution within three years of passage. So Cool!
