Calaveras Arts Council AWARDS IN THE 16TH ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL ART SHOW
San Andreas, CA... Following a call for artists in the Calaveras County Arts Council’s 16th annual ArtSpirit Show, 134 high school students from three schools entered a total of 198 works in 11 categories. Cash awards of $10 for First Prize; $5 for Second Prize; and Third Place ribbons were given in each category. Additionally, a $20 Popular Choice Award will be presented after the Saturday, April 20 closing of the exhibit. The public is invited to visit the show located in Gallery Calaveras at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Here are the results:

Participating art teachers are Donna Guadagni, Suzanne Smith, Roger Salter and Cindy Biles from Calaveras High; Ken Baldwin and Mark Waelty from Bret Harte High; Martha Wallace representing Mountain Oaks and her private students. These dedicated teachers and professionals inspire the artist within each of their students, opening the door to creative expression -- enriching lives.
The ArtSpirit exhibit continues in the Gallery of the Calaveras County Arts Council until April 20. Some of the artworks are for sale with all monies going to directly to the student artists.
