"Table Hopping" is Back...Area Restaurant Interviews and Reviews Giving Noto's a Thumbs Up!
Murphys, CA...."Table Hopping" is back! This is a Feature column where we provide you, our viewers with restaurant interviews and reviews about the fine eating establishment's in our lovely area.... This week, Local Chef, Jenny Baxter headed out to Noto's of Murphys. "Earlier this week my friend, Jim Gray, invited me to dinner. He has wanted to dine at Noto’s and has not had an opportunity until now, so that was our choice for the evening. Our timing could not have been better! The twilight temperature in Murphy’s was perfect! Because it was near closing the seating was not packed. We choose an outdoor table and we were greeted by Lorenzo Noto, the owner and chef. He was most accommodating and friendly. As soon as he seated us one of his highly experienced waitresses came with .....
bread and a tasty olive oil dip. I was so pleased with her positive attitude considering it was almost closing time. Having worked as a waitress once myself, I knew that customers arriving near closing time is not always welcomed. She took our wine order, Chianti of course, as we browsed the menu. The Italian selections ranged from pastas to proteins and not too many which guarantees freshness. I ended up ordering the swordfish dinner and Jim selected the evening’s special, a veal dish. The plates were presented most artistically and very colorful. The food was delicious with just enough sauce to be complimentary and not overbearing. Believe or not his spaghetti squash was the best I have ever tasted! He is proud to share the recipe below with you. We ended our meal sharing a warm lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and fudge swirls. Needless to say the chocolate and red wine combination was the finishing touch to a fine meal. Noto’s is located at the end on Main Street in downtown Murphy’s. They are open 6 days a week, closing on Mondays. Noto’s offers breakfast, lunch and dinner Wednesdays through Sundays and dinner only on Tuesdays. Call 728- 9077 for reservations and times. Ciao

Spaghetti Squash Noto Style
Cut a medium size spaghetti squash in half and place it on a baking sheet. Add a couple inches of water and steam in a 375 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until it is soft when pierced with a fork. Remove from the oven and shred the flesh with the times of a fork.While the squash is steaming prepare the other ingredients.
3 toes minced garlic
3 Tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
2 Tablespoons fresh chopped mint
1 Tablespoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried chili peppers
1 roasted red bell pepper diced
1 tomato diced
2 Tablespoons olive oil
Place all the ingredients into a pot and heat just until warmed. Add the squash and toss to coat.
Add:
½ cup dry white wine
½ cube butter
¼ cup chicken stock.
Continue to heat until the butter melts and the ingredients are combined.
