Can You Name That President? - Victor Claveau

Can You Name That President?

While we can't give the winners a Cherry Pie, we can give you our favorite Cherry Pie recipe.

1. Who was the only president never to marry?

2. Who was the first president to wear a beard?

3. Who was president for the shortest amount of time?

4. What King became president?

5. From what law school did Abraham Lincoln graduate?

6. Who was the first president born in a log cabin?

7. What three presidents won the Nobel Peace Prize?

Give up? Go to "Read More" for the answers.

1. James Buchanan is the only president who wasn’t married. During his term, his niece, Harriet Lane, played the role of First Lady.

2. Abraham Lincoln was the first president to wear a beard.

3. William Henry Harrison died on his 31st day in office.

4. Born Leslie Lynch King, Jr., Gerald Ford, Jr. became our 38th president and was our first “King” to be elected.

5. Lincoln never attended law school.

6. Andrew Jackson.

7. Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 earned a Noble Peace Prize for his part in helping to end the Russo-Japanese war, and Woodrow Wilson, in 1919 for his efforts in helping create the League of Nations. And former president Jimmy Carter won it in 2002 for his "untiring efforts" over decades to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts and to advance democracy and human rights.

Looking for a presidential pie recipe!

No lie George, here’s a good cherry pie!

Cherries are great tasting fruit. They’re also healthy. Many of us know of the story about George Washington cutting down his father’s cherry tree, and, to every parent’s delight, told the truth and admitted to his father, the mistake he made. Young George made a good political move at such a young age that his story has remained to this day an example of how honest our first president was.

Cherries are not only good for telling the truth but your health too!
One cup of cherries contains:
• Approx. 90 calories
• 3 grams of fiber
• Zero fat and zero sodium

Cherries are rich in antioxidants, such as anthocyanins, quercetin, and ellagic acid. They also contain a cholesterol-lowering compound called beta-sitosterol.

Melatonin, also found in cherries, especially tart cherries, was found to affect sleep patterns and has been promoted as an anti-aging supplement.

Here’s a delicious way to eat more cherries:

Cherry Cheese Pie
1 9-inch pastry pie crust or graham cracker

16 oz package cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs, beaten

1 tsp vanilla

1 – 22 oz can of cherry pie filling

To Make:
1. Blend cream cheese and sugar. Add eggs and beat for 10 minutes. Add vanilla and pour into pie shell.

2. Bake in a pre-heated 350-degree oven for 25 minutes.

3. Let it cool thoroughly.

4. Spread cherry pie filling over the cheese layer.

5. Chill.

Happy President's Day
