“The Weekend Warrior Report” - Top Entertainment Choices to Suit Your Budget~By Andrea Silva

"The Weekend Warrior Report" is a New Thursday Column by Andrea Silva, featuring Top Entertainment choices for the upcoming weekend to fit your budget. Hope you enjoy!

Save = Free

Spend = Under $50

Splurge = $50 and above

Good Samaritan – Charity or Volunteer Event

Wild Card = Anything goes

Save – Family Karaoke, fun, friendly and the best part is that it’s free. Kids and adults alike can test their American Idol skills on this night of lighthearted musical fun. If you don’t think you are brave enough to take the mic, just go, watch, and wait… after awhile you won’t be able to help yourself. You’ll be “Rolling on the River” before you know it! Karaoke starts every Friday at 6 pm and runs until 9pm at 1267 S. Main Street in Angels Camp.....

Spend – Girls Night Out- Ironstone Vineyards. This is a rare find indeed! A top-not event at an incredibly affordable price, tickets are just $35 each (plus proceeds to go to a good cause, The Calaveras Crisis Center). Grab your best girlfriends and head out for en evening of fine wines, chocolates and the best kept beauty secrets around. Ladies that attended last year raved about the event and impatiently awaited the second go-around. For a good time call (209) 728-1251 event begins at 6pm and runs until 12pm at 1894 Six Mile Road in Murphys.

Splurge – The ski season has been struggling to get itself in gear this year but this is the weekend for a big launch and some big air. With snow falling today and over the next 5 days now is the time to catch some fresh powder. With a 100% chance of snowfall on Friday the best day to hit the mountain would most likely be on Sunday, where the chance of snowfall is decreased to 30%. There should be copious amounts of fresh powder to play in with some light snowfall, throughout the day, to keep things freshened up. Lift tickets will run you about $59 each but check out their website for discounts and other offers at www.bearvalley.com. P.S. don’t forget to carry chains if you aren’t driving a 4X4 with snow tires!

Good Samaritan - Charity pick of the week is the Orient Express Run put on by the Sonora Sunrise Rotary. This event features a run or walk through the rolling hills of the historic goldrush area. All participants will receive a ribbon and T-shirt with proceeds benefiting the Special Olympics of Tuolumne County. Choose from a ½ mile to 4 mile jaunt which begins in Chinese Camp off highway 49 outside of Sonora at 9am.

Wild Card - The Play “Once Upon a Summertime Fantasy” at Bret Harte Theater. "This is an enchanting tale about a young blind girl who befriends an unusual boy she meets in the woods. Through their friendship she learns to accept her disability and he learns what it is to love someone. This is a heartwarming tale about the power of true love." February 7th at 7pm (209)736-2507
