ONE cast appears in TWO shows in an evening of fun at our 2nd Annual Shakespearience! Starting at 6 pm inside the Metropolitan you’ll be treated to the hilarious comedy, An Evening of Culture, where the residents of Mineola County, TX attempt to put on Romeo & Juliet in the middle school gymnasium!
Hilarity ensues as everything that can go wrong does! Next, we’ll move down to the park by the creek where the same actors will perform William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet under the stars and under the expert direction of Kristopher Mandell. It’s sure to be an evening you won’t soon forget!

06/15/2024 - Go Beyond Dill Pickles with UCCE Master Food PreserversSan Andreas, CA...Go beyond dill pickles! Many other vegetables and fruits can become a pickled or fermented product, either canned for a shelf-stable product for year-round enjoyment, or without canning to be enjoyed in the short term. Join UCCE Master Food Preservers of Amador/Calaveras Counties on June 15th as we present a class, “We can pickle that,” from 9am to 12noon at the Calaveras Senior Center, 956 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas. Cost is $5 payable by cash or check made out to UC Regents. Pre-registration is recommended at https://ucanr.edu/june2024-mfpclass Walk-ins are also welcome.

09/14/2024 - The Wild & Scenic Film Festival Comes to Angels CampAngels Camp, CA...The Wild & Scenic Film Festival comes to Angels Camp, California on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Bret Harte Theater, hosted by the Calaveras Film Commission, to benefit Calaveras Community Television. Featured at the tour event in Angels Camp are award winning films from the flagship festival in Nevada City. In addition, local filmmakers have the opportunity to submit and show their video productions on the big screen before a live audience. According to festival organizer, Chris Stevenson, "Here in the Gold Country, we have a great number of very talented video artists and filmmakers. We are gathering the best of these local films and will premiere them at the Bret Harte Theater. Many of the filmmakers will have a question and answer session following their film. It's going to be informative, interesting, and fun!"
Calaveras Community Television (CCTV) has an open CALL TO ARTISTS to submit films of any length to this festival. Film themes may include any, or all of the following: wild, scenic, travel, adventure, nature, local history, humanitarianism. There is no entry fee. To submit a film, please call CCTV at 209-754-4021.
Held each winter in Nevada City, California, the original "flagship" Wild & Scenic Film Festival celebrates the beauty and wonder of our natural world and inspires audiences everywhere to take action to protect it. Now, attendees in Calaveras County can support their own local advocates for the environment by attending The Calaveras Film Commission's Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour event.

05/11/2024 - Free Rabies Vaccine & Microchip Clinic on May 11thSan Andreas, CA...If you have a dog or cat in need of a Rabies vaccine or microchip, come on down to see us May 11th! This clinic is open and free to Calaveras County residents only. Just bring your dog on a leash, cat in a carrier, or both! There are no limits on number of animals you may bring, however, no breeders please.
While we don't charge a dime for these services, donations are greatly appreciated and what helps us keep these services going. Brookley Schamber, DVM will be the attending veterinarian at this clinic.
All dogs 4 months and older are required by law to be vaccinated for Rabies and licensed in Calaveras County. The Animal Services office will be open to assist with licensing.
