Charles Manson 1934 -2017

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/20/2017 12:16 AM
Bakersfield, CA...From Wikipedia.."Charles Milles Manson (born Charles Milles Maddox, November 12, 1934 – November 19, 2017) was an American criminal and former cult leader who led what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune that arose in California in the late 1960s. Manson's followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. In 1971 he was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people – including the actress Sharon Tate – all of which were carried out by members of the group at his instruction. Manson also received first-degree murder convictions for two other deaths. Manson was originally sentenced to death, but his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment when California invalidated the state's death penalty statute in 1972. He served life sentences at California State Prison in Corcoran."

Minor Injuries in DUI Collision on Hwy 49

Theodore J. Phelan of Sonora was driving a white 1992 Jeep Cherokee southbound on State Route 49 approaching Jack Page Road. Due to his high level of alcohol intoxication, Mr. Phelan crossed the double yellow lines and drove wrong-way into the northbound lane. Posted by: thepinetree on 11/18/2017 02:47 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley has given an update on progress on the new "Mokelumne Express" Lift..."What an incredible bluebird day for flying. Work began at 7am today with temps hovering around 19-22 degrees. Started with a safety & planning briefing then the crews headed out to their positions. The speed at which these multi-thousand pound structures are being flown and then received by crews on the ground is an impressive feat. The story today is the crew. From the pilots to the team on the ground receiving the towers and crossbars – the adrenaline is pumping on a day like today. So proud of our BV teams in collaboration with Alpine Cable and Construction (Lift Install contract team) to successfully maneuver in some very icy conditions and complete the placement of the towers. We will have some video coming soon. On we go!"

President Trump Proclaims November 19 Through 25, 2017, as National Family Week

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/18/2017 01:27 PM
Washington, DC...During National Family Week, we emphasize the importance of preserving and promoting strong families, the cornerstone of our society. Families are as diverse as our Nation. They often extend beyond moms, dads, and their children, and include adoptive and foster parents, grandparents, and extended relatives. But no matter their makeup, families share a unique quality -- they naturally form the fundamental unit of our society. They hold more influence over our communities and our Nation than any other structure, so it is incumbent upon us, as a Nation, to strengthen and support them.

Congressman Tom McClintock Voted NO on House Tax Bill and Issued The Following Statement after Passage of Bill

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/16/2017 12:25 PM
Washington, DC...I am convinced that the business side of this bill will produce dramatic growth for the national economy. However, I believe the personal income tax side does significant harm, particularly to many families in high-cost, high-tax states like California. This was entirely avoidable, if higher priority had been given to family tax relief than was given to tax simplification. The current major deductions for such expenses as mortgage interest, state and local income taxes, medical and casualty expenses and student loan interest could all have been retained in the bill, while still providing a significant, across-the-board reduction in all tax rates, assuring that no taxpayer was left behind.
