No One Dies Alone Program Comes to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras. National NODA Program Offers Companionship in Final Moments of Life

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/12/2019 09:14 PM
Jackson, CA...Hospice of Amador and Calaveras has ushered in a new program for patients facing final moments of their lives without the presence of a loved one at their side. The No One Dies Alone (NODA) program is a national volunteer-centered program that was started in 2001 by Peace Health in Eugene, Ore. It has since been adopted and adapted for use by hospitals and hospice agencies across the nation, and it does exactly what the name provides: ensures that no patients will face their last moments alone.

Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Vote 5-0 to Adopt New General Plan After 13 Years of Delays ~ John Hamilton

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/12/2019 12:36 PM
San Andreas, CA...This morning at the Calaveras county board of supervisors meeting the supervisors voted 5-0 to adopt a new general plan for Calaveras county. It has been since 2006 or 13 years since Calaveras county has had a functional general plan process. In the last 13 years there have been millions spent on consulting fees, planning fees, community meetings, community plans etc. In addition to the direct costs there have also been the indirect lost opportunity costs, lost wages and stagnant communities where even the projects that everyone left and right would want died stillborn or were bled to death from prolonged legal battles and almost certain death.

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/12/2019 11:03 AM
Angels Camp, CA....We have had a few articles that seemed to stay in the que much longer that we had hoped. Lets chalk this one up to the PSPS interruptions. Summerville took this one on a blocked punt as time was running out 15 - 12. This was also Senior Night and we have a few photos and video of that portion of the program as well.

The 65 year old West Point man for an unknown reason allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway onto the north shoulder of State Route 26. He unsafely turned to the left, and the vehicle spun out of control across both lanes of traffic, before leaving the roadway and colliding with a tree. Following the impact the with a tree, the vehicle overturned and came to rest north of the roadway, on it's left side.

Calaveras Board of Supervisors to Vote on New General Plan Today

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/12/2019 08:01 AM
San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County General Plan has been in limbo for 13 years. In 2006 the board voted for a general plan update moratorium. That started the process for a new general plan. In the subsequent 13 years there has been millions of dollars spent, countless hours wasted on community plans, housing projects killed or shelved because of the legal structural deficit of a general plan. So after millions of wasted tax dollars & tens of millions of lost investment in the county we may actually get a new general plan. The complete agenda is below...

Prescribed Burns Continue in Calaveras Big Trees State Park Area

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/12/2019 07:03 AM
Arnold, CA...California State Parks in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry and Fire protection (CAL FIRE) are planning to begin a series of prescribed burns beginning on or around the week of October 21, 2019 through the end of November in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The goal is to complete 382 acres this fall (see maps below). Ignitions are expected to occur when weather conditions are favorable and adequate resources are available. Some of the units have been previously thinned to reduce the fuel loading, which allows for a safer and more controllable broadcast burn. Much of this work was funded through Propositions 84 and 1 grant from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, an agency of the State of California.

Columbia, CA...Now though December 15th the Sierra Repertory Theatre is performing the classic musical Grease. The Historic Fallon House theatre in Columbia the production venue. It is about Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'," "It's Raining on Prom Night," "Alone at the Drive-In Movie" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Book, Music, and Lyrics by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs. Performances are weekly on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday of each week. Click below for tickets...
