CCWD General Manager to Leave the District for Opportunity in Southern California
San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) Board of Directors has announced that Joone Lopez, the General Manager, will be leaving the District to lead Moulton Niguel Water District as their new General Manager. Originally from Southern California, Lopez expressed mixed emotions in accepting a great opportunity that will return her back to her family and leaving Calaveras County, which she has embraced as her new home.
The Board thanked Lopez for her leadership and hard work since joining the District in
May 2010. "Joone has provided CCWD with a level of professional competency that
has had a profound effect upon the entire agency,” said Board President Don Stump.
“She has led this organization to a new level of efficiency, with a status and respect
within the industry that the District had never attained in the past. CCWD was lucky to
have Joone, and we all wish her the very best as her career advances."
During Lopez’ tenure with the District, there were many shared achievements including
a successful labor negotiations, acquisition of $10 million in state/federal grants, a new
operations headquarters scheduled to break ground in June 2012, and an all-time high
in employee morale, just to name a few.
“I feel so fortunate to have served this great District. I owe my future to the Board
members and staff who have been supportive and allowed me to be a part of so much
success,” said Lopez. “I am grateful to the people of Calaveras who will always have a
special place in my heart for all their kindness.”
Lopez’ last day at CCWD will be Friday, June 15. However, she told the Board that she
is committed to assisting the District even after she leaves. Lopez will be working with
the Board and staff to implement a transition plan.
The Board will discuss the transition plan during its Board meeting on May 23.
Calaveras County Water District is a public agency committed to meeting the diverse
needs of the historical gold country that spans 1,100 square miles. CCWD is
responsible for potable water delivery, wastewater collection, recycled water
distribution, groundwater management and hydropower generation facilities in the
